For way too many years, I worked in the corporate world for different companies. I was becoming more and more disillusioned with the corporate world and after much contemplation I knew the corporate world was no longer for me. My current pet sitter, who took care of my cats when I was out of town, had just told me she was going to be moving out of the state. I realized that my love for animals and my desire to get out of the corporate world might just make the world of pet sitting a new career for me. Before I knew it, I was starting my own pet sitting company! At the beginning jobs were slow to come by. I often wondered if I would ever have enough business to make this a viable career. But, quickly my schedule started filling up with dog walking and pet sitting clients! Starting out I offered dog walking, vacation visits and I would even stay overnight at the client’s home. I became so busy with the dog walking and the vacation visits, that after awhile I dropped the overnight portion of my business. I also needed some downtime with my own fur kids! Although my schedule is different every day, I love what I do! Even on the days I’m in a somewhat less than wonderful mood, when I walk in to a client’s house, the animals are always happy to see me! There is nothing like a welcoming animal for a mood lifter! I’m amazed how far my business has come in the past 16 years! I started hiring staff to keep up with the increasing demand of bookings. I’ve never regretted my decision to leave the corporate world.
